18 out of 40 monitoring stations in Kingston borough report illegal levels of air pollution Cromwell Road Bus Station and Tolworth Roundabout are at almost twice the legal limits of NO2. Nitrogen Dioxide is responsible for 14,000 premature deaths in the UK Government and the council continue to just talk. Just one out of 166 budget changes in Kingston Council concerned air pollution. In January 2019, the government introduced a clean air plan, which was more concerned about banning wood burning stoves.

20mph on all borough roads for safer and cleaner streets - start immediately in Surbiton where residents have already voted in favour of it twice.

Introduce green zones around schools to prevent vehicles idling and encourage safe walking.

Introduce car free days in all town centres.

Reintroduce and look to expand the Park and Ride scheme axed in 2014.
Sustainable construction
Use the planning system to reduce emissions during construction and make sure homes are built more sustainably.
Pollution penalties
Charge the most polluting newly purchased vehicles more to park and introduce penalties for idling. Use the money raised to set up a fund to pay for clean air initiatives
Electric car club
Set up a local not-for-profit electric car club as an alternative to car ownership for lower income families.
